Datailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On arrival at the Airport, our company tour guide will pick you up and transfer to Volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri. This is a 3 hours drive from the city center. Upon arrival, you will check in into your lodge and then take a short community tour around Ruhengeri for a good cultural tour. Dinner and overnight stay at Kinigi Guest House (Budget)/Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge (Mid range)/ Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury)

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla tracking

Have an early breakfast is followed by a briefing about gorilla trekking tour. See and interact with Gorillas is 1 hours for observation and photographing. Return for lunch at your lodge, relax as we wait for afternoon cultural performance or nature walk. Return to the lodge for refreshments, dinner and overnight stay at Kinigi Guest House (Budget)/Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge (Mid range)/ Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury)

Day 3: Transfer to Gisenyi town
Have breakfast and leave Ruhengeri to Gisenyi town located on the shores of Lake Kivu, the main fresh water body in Rwanda. Upon arrival, have lunch and after you can take an optional boat ride on the lake to the closest islands to discover unspoiled places and sceneries. You will witness beautiful views of the Nyiragongo Volcano in Congo which is the only still active volcano in East Africa and last erupted in 2002.

Alternatively, you can relax on the beach as you wait for your dinner and overnight stay at Serena Kivu Hotel (Luxury) /Malahide Hotel (Mid range) Stipp Hotel (Budget)

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest
After breakfast, you will leave Gisenyi and transfer to the South Western Rwanda along the road on the shores of Lake Kivu to Nyungwe Forest National Park. En route to the Park, visit the Kibuye town also found on the shores of Lake Kivu for stunning sceneries and Lunch. After lunch, you will proceed in the afternoon to Cyangugu town which is on the Southern shore of Lake Kivu and also a gateway to Nyungwe Forest National Park. You will reach Nyungwe in the evening in time for dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Luxury) or Gisakura Guest House (Budget)

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe

After an early breakfast, you will leave the lodge or guest house around 5:00am and enter the forest to search for the Chimpanzees and also other primates like the Angolan colobus. The park hosts 13 species of primates and these include: chimpanzees, Rwenzori colobus, Hoest Monkey, silver monkey, owl faced monkey, red tailed monkey, vervet monkey and olive baboon and so many others. You are also advised to carry with you a packed lunch and bottled mineral water. Return in the evening for dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Luxury) or Gisakura Guest House (Budget)

Day 6: Transfer to Kigali
After breakfast, you will drive back to Kigali. En route stopovers at Gikongoro for a tour of the Genocide Memorial of Murambi. Have lunch in Butare town which is the 2nd town in Rwanda and also considered the cultural capital. The city hosts the university and the National Museum

with very rewarding handicraft shops where typical products made by Rwandan artisans are sold. After this, you will proceed with your journey and visit the Royal Palace in Nyanza. The site displays original items and pieces of history of the Old Mwami who was the King. Proceed to Kigali for dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Chezlando/Step Town Motel (budget), Kigali Serena or Hotel Des Mill Collins for Luxury or Golf Hills Residence for Mid range

Day 7: Transfer to Akagera National Park
After breakfast, you will depart for Akagera National Park which is located along the Rwanda and Tanzanian border. After lunch at the Lodge, you will go the afternoon boat trip on the Lake Ihema to see the large number of hippos, the huge crocodile and so many bird species. Retire in the evening to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Akagera Game Lodge

Day 8: Game drive and transfer back to Kigali

After breakfast, you will go for the morning breakfast to search for the large herds of game animals which the park is famous for and these include: Burchell’s Zebra, lions, elephants, topi, giraffes, impalas and over 425 species of birds including the rare shoe billed stock, African jacana, sacred ibis goliath heron. Return back to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, drive back to Kigali airport to catch your flight back home.
