This 10 days primate safari is an amazing package taking you for water rafting at the source of the nile, wildlife viewing and launch cruise in Murchison falls national park and Queen Elizabeth national park, Chimpanzee trekking in kibale forest national park and the gorilla trekking, best wildlife encounter in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. The tour starts in Uganda and ends in Kigali.
Day 1: Kampala – Jinja (Whole day rafting)
Have breakfast in the morning and drive off to Jinja. You will then raft the whole day starting at the Nile for about 31km. You will spend the Night in Jinja town at Jinja Nile Resort Hotel / Hotel Triangle.
Day 2: Jinja – Kampala
Have breakfast in the early morning, go for boat cruising and then drive back to Kampala. Dinner and overnight at Protea Hotel kampala.
Day 3: Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park
Depart to Murchison falls early in the morning. Have a stopover visit to the Rhino sanctuary. You will have en route lunch in Masindi Town. Proceed to Murchison falls to see the top of the waters of the river Nile, exploding violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment. Game viewing in the evening. Dinner and Overnight at Red Chilli/Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day 4: Game drive & Boat ride on the Victoria Nile.
Before dawn you will go for a game drive through the park searching for predators and other game. The drive will reward you with game like Hyenas, Leopards, elephants, hartebeests, Oribis, Uganda Kobs, giraffes to mention. In the afternoon you will go for a boat ride on the Victoria Nile that takes you to the bottom of the falls. The ride will reward you with game like Crocodiles, Hippos, elephants, buffaloes, and plenty of birds like the Kingfishers. Dinner and Overnight at Red Chilli/Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day 5: Transfer to Kibale National Park.
Have an early breakfast, after which drive to Kibale National Park. The drive will take you about 6 hours to reach Fort portal taking you through the beautiful rural country side filled with interesting natural escarpments as well as local homesteads. Reaching Fort portal by evening, have a brief tour of this mystical town overlooking the Mountains of the moon – Rwenzori Mountains. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge / Mountains of the moon / Primates Lodge.
Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth
This morning you will have breakfast and then transfer to Kibale NP Headquarters. You will be briefed about the whole process and tracking and then you will head along the tracks in the forest to search for chimpanzees. The walk through the park will be guided providing information about not only on chimpanzees but also on flora and fauna. You will then meet the chimpanzees and spend some time watching them feeding and making theirs calls. If you are lucky to find then hunting this is the best time, as you watch them share the meat amongst themselves. After tracking you will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park located on the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge / Mweya Institute of ecology.
Day 7: Game Drive & Launch cruise.
Start off your day with a cup of coffee. Early morning game drive along Kasenyi and Queens Mile makes visitors encounter elephants, buffalo, water bucks, warthogs, lions, Uganda Kobs lakes and a variety of birds. After lunch, a two hour Launch cruise along the famous Kazinga channel a natural channel between Lake Edward and Lake George. Thanks to the elephants, buffaloes and hundreds of hippos, this cruise will definitely be one of the highlights of your safari. Overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/Jacana Safari Lodge/Bush Lodge
Day 8: Morning Game drive – Bwindi Gorilla Park
Before sunrise you will go for a game drive in the pack to search for predator and nocturnal dwellers as they return to their hide outs. Expect species such as Elephants, buffaloes, side stripped jackals, hyena, leopards, Lions, warthogs, Uganda Kobs, Giant forest Hogs to mention. After the game drive you will drive through the Ishasha sector to transfer to Bwindi the Gorilla sanctuary .The drive will take you through the Ishasha sector to reach the park in the evening. Watch out for tree climbing Lions enroute. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla resort / Buhoma community Bandas.
Day 9: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters with packed lunch for briefing and then by 9:00 am you will set off along the tracks in the thick forest to go search for these great apes. Depending on the movement of these humble giants the walk might take between 2-9 hours before you encounter the Gorillas. The walk is tiresome however meeting these great apes and spending some time with them while looking deep into their expressive brown eyes, is an exhilarating and heartbreaking wildlife encounter that Africa has to offer. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla resort / Buhoma community.
Day 10: Drive to Kampala
Today, you will have breakfast and then drive back to Kampala. The drive will take you to stop in one of the towns along the way for lunch. Drop off at the airport for flight back home.
