Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala – Ngamba Island & Chimpanzee trekking
ngamba-island-chimpanzee
Pick up from your hotel by our company guide who will brief you, you will be driven to the shores of Lake Victoria to catch your boat. The boat takes about 45 minutes across to Ngamba Island Chimp Sanctuary, crossing the Equator en-route. On arrival at the island, home to 39 chimpanzees, you will be given a short introduction and briefing on the sanctuary. After which, proceed to watch the chimps feed. It is fascinating to watch the chimps interact with each other and with their keepers. After noon for those who have had the required set of medical inoculations, a forest walk with the chimps is a unique experience. The playful chimps climb on you, pull your hair, or just walk along holding your hand.

Day 2: Ngamba Island – Bwindi Forest National Park
Early in the morning depart from Ngamba Island to Entebbe. Depart from Kampala by road and head south-West to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will have a short stop at the Equator. Have lunch in Mbarara and reach Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home of the mountain gorilla in the late afternoon. Tonight you will sleep to the sounds of the mountain rainforest.
Overnight at Gorilla Resort/Buhoma Community Bandas (Full Board)

Day 3: Mountain Gorilla Tracking
gorilla trekking
Have an early breakfast to give you the energy needed for gorilla tracking. Before 8:00 am report to the ranger station for registration and a talk by one of the rangers; the guides will then take you through the bush pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track the gorillas. (This trek can take from half an hour to 5 hours – a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes) Meet the gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other, and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male; the silverback. If you have the energy this afternoon, take a guided walk on the Munyaga River trail, which is an ideal short walk.

This trail leads to three delightful crystal clear waterfalls, orchids and Bwindi’s colorful array of butterflies. Here you may also see birds and primates from the forest edge.
Alternatively, you can have the afternoon free, how about a guided village walk, see how the Ugandans live. Overnight at Gorilla Resort/Buhoma Community Bandas (Full Board)

Day 4: Bwindi Gorilla Forest -Kigali
Have morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and transfer to Kigali for your return flight.
